Govt. banned ‘The Psychopath’ written by a young emerging writer Md. Mehedi Hasan


Md. Mehedi Hasan is a young emerging writer and lyricist of Bangladesh.
He was born on 10th May 1997 in Tangail, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
At the age of 24, he wrote three books of poetry and wrote lyrics for 12 songs.
In 2019, his book The Psychopath was banned by the government of Bangladesh.
The statement by the government for the ban was ‘Use of obscene words in some sentences which are not expected in literature or any artwork’.
Answering a question, Md. Mehedi Hasan said, “Art work like literature cannot be restricted by some defined laws, words and criteria anywhere in the world.
Literature is the best of works of art, Literature can never be withheld”.
Md. Mehedi Hasan has filed an appeal in the High Court in this regard and has made the 2nd edition of the book.
He is also a writer, literary figure, journalist and human rights activist.
Currently, he is working as a journalist at The Daily Star and The Daily Observer (Two reputed national dailies in Bangladesh).
It may be mentioned that Md. Mehedi Hasan has completed his graduation as Bachelor of Science in Physics from National University, Gazipur, Bangladesh in 2019.
He has been a genius since his childhood.
At the age of 9, he wrote the first poem that won first place in the district composition competition. At the age of 16, Md. Mehedi Hasan wrote his first book of poetry which was published continuously in a national daily of Bangladesh named ‘Manabjamin’ in 2016.
His childhood habit of writing has made him an emerging writer today.
